- What is keratin?
Keratin
Keratin is a type of protein with a high content of cystine, an amino acid that makes it tough, elastic and insoluble.
Keratin is the main protective substance of hair, skin and nails.
It is difficult to extract without damaging the cystine or sacrificing its activity.
The QUEEN keratin treatment technology is a patented process that ensures a gentle and effective method to accomplish the protection that is needed.
Keratins are derived from pure wool collected from New Zealand sheep. The absence of pollution sources in the area guarantees a pure raw material and the extraction processes do not affect or distress the animals. In other words, it is a cruelty free product.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Our unique biopolymer ingredient is essentially a “liquid form of hair” that gently mixes with hair on your head, both inside and outside.
It also gives hair ingredients that were missing in the first place and have been lost over time. The smaller keratin molecules penetrate the hair cortex improving and repairing the quality from the inside. The keratin fills in the gaps between the cuticle and hair stem and then a seal is achieved with a high heat iron. This reduces curls and adds strength and elasticity, while at the same time achieving the strengthening needed as the added weight of the keratin smooths and tames the curls.
The larger keratin molecules overlap the skin of the scalp externally and protect it from environmental damage caused by factors such as UV rays, smog and other pollutants.
In addition to keratin, QUEEN’s BRAZILIAN COMPLEX KERATIN TREATMENT contains a blend of valuable ingredients that guarantee more active results.
These are:
HIPPOPHAE RAMNOIDES OIL
CAMELIA SINENSIS
HAMAMELIS VIRGINIANA
ALOE BARBADESNIS
BORAGO OFFICINALIS (Burantzo)
SIMMONDSIA CHINENSIS (Jojoba)
OENOTHERA BIENNIS (Biennial oenothera)
CALENDULA OFFICINALIS
BUTYROSPERMUM PERKII (Shea buttercup)
QUEEN’s dye, highlights and Brazilian Keratin Treatment
If your client wishes to dye or get highlights you should do them BEFORE applying the Brazilian Keratin Treatment. By dyeing or highlighting before the Brazilian Keratin Treatment you will prolong the duration of the color as the passage of the straightening iron crystallises the product onto hair and locks hair scales.
For the same reason you should wait at least 1 or 2 weeks after applying Brazilian Keratin Treatment, because the skin is not porous enough to absorb the dye. Also, dye only the root and not the ends because the intensity of the treatment will be lost.
For permanent dyeing or highlights
Apply the permanent dye or highlights as usual. When shampooing, use PRE TREATMENT cleansing shampoo and then apply QUEEN’s Brazilian Keratin Treatment.
For semi-permanent colouring
As in the case of semi-permanent dyeing it is only deposited on the outer part of the skin, use the PRE TREATMENT shampoos first and then the semi-permanent dyeing. Rinse the dye with water only and then apply QUEEN’s Brazilian Keratin Treatment. To apply the dye after applying the keratin you MUST wait at least 1 to 2 weeks for skin to become porous enough to absorb the dye.
Untreated hair (not previously dyed or chemically treated)
Untreated hair is less porous than hair that has been dyed or chemically treated. For this reason we recommend to do 3 thorough shampoo washes with a mixture of equal parts of PRE TREATMENT shampoo and 20 degree peroxide which will help hair become more porous allowing it to absorb the product. If you don’t, chances are the results of the first application of the treatment will not be very successful.
Caution: During the repeated treatment, add 20 degrees oxygen to the shampoo again to open the hair pores and to penetrate the keratin, because the hair scales may still be sealed from the first application.
QUEEN’s keratin TOTAL 5 STEP PROCESS
Required tools:
- PRE TREATMENT cleansing and conditioning shampoo
- Queen Keratin Treatment
- Hairdryer
- Cape, gloves, ear protectors (optional)
- Medium tooth comb
- Straightening iron up to 230Ο
- Plastic bowl for the product
STEP 1
Α. NATURAL HAIR:
Wash hair twice with QUEEN’s PRE TREATMENT SHAMPOO and leave the soap on the head for 10 – 20 minutes to help open the hair scales and penetrate the keratin molecules.
In case of very hard and curly hair or with a recent keratin application, add 10 ml of 20 degree shampoo to the second hand and shampoo to help open the hair scales.
Β. AFTER TECHNICAL WORK HAIR: Wash hair twice with QUEEN’s PRE TREATMENT shampoo. In the first hand use it as a cleanser. During the first application use it as a cleanser and rinse immediately. The application time in the 2nd hand depends on the speed of the change in hair texture (2’ – 5′ minutes). Rinse with plenty of water.
STEP 2
Dab hair very well to remove excess moisture from hair and then dry hair very well using a hairdryer at medium temperature
STEP 3
Start by applying a minimum of 60 ml of product for the treatment of medium length hair (adjust the amount according to the length of hair).
WARNING: Using less than the minimum required amount of product may result in damage to hair by the straightening iron.
IMPORTANT: Shake the bottle well and place the keratin liquid in a plastic bowl. Divide hair into 3 sections with a medium comb. Apply the product about 2 – 3 inches away from the scalp (the keratin will go inside the hair and reach the root) and comb down the hair shaft. Create one or two inch sections, apply the product with a silicone brush or dye brush (as you apply the dye) and then comb the tuft with the comb (small teeth) to spread the product over the entire length of hair. Remove the excess product. Finish with the back middle and then the sides. Do not over infuse hair with product as this will lead to wastage. Leave the product on hair for 30 minutes. Wrap with cling film.
+Do not apply keratin treatment to pregnant or breastfeeding women
STEP 4
In this step you will need a hairdryer. It is very important to set the dryer to medium temperature or cold.
DO NOT choose a high temperature for this step. Using an air brush and after removing the membrane, start at the nape of the neck and dry the product from hair, working up and to the sides until the entire head is dry.
Never point the blow dryer towards the client’s face to avoid directing any odour or fumes towards the client.
During this step you should not concentrate on straightening hair but only on drying it. Dry hair thoroughly
STEP 5
Remove your gloves. You will need a straightening iron that will reach a temperature up to 230Ο (important for the process). Place ear protectors on your client. Divide hair into three large sections. Starting from the nape of the neck area, select a 1.5-point lock. Use the straightening iron. To finish you can go through each section until you notice the desired shine and softness.
The roots are passed through 3 – 4 times. At the top of the head lift the strands vertically and then half their length towards the ear. Focus on the ends. Don’t worry if you have to go through the same sections 5, 6 or even 10 times. You will not damage hair as the QUEEN KERATIN TREATMENT system contains a thermal protection agent. Make sure you use a sufficient amount of product in step 3. In addition, don’t forget to use a temperature of 190 – 210 ℃ on hair that is sensitive, damaged or decapaged to avoid any damage from the heat of the iron.
– For the maintenance of hair and for a longer duration, it is advisable to use shampoos and care products without sulphate salts such as the above:
QUEEN SULPHATE FREE SHAMPOO
LIFEBOX COLOR PROTECT
HERBORIA RESTRUCTURING MASK
-For a longer lasting effect of the treatment, any technical work on the length of hair should be avoided.
CAUTION: Pay special attention to the front fringe which is more sensitive. Comb the client’s hair as desired. You MUST advise your clients not to wash their hair for up to 72 hours after treatment. During this time they should not get their hair wet (sweating, showering , bathing).
.
QUEEN’s KERATN EXPRESS 5 – STEP PROCESS
STEP 1
A. NATURAL HAIR: Wash hair 2 times with QUEEN’s PRE TREATMENT SHAMPOO and leave the product on for 5 – 10 minutes to help open hair scales and allow keratin molecules to penetrate.
B. HAIR AFTER TECHNICAL WORKS (DYE – DECAPAGE): Wash hair 2 times with PRE TREATMENT shampoo. On the first hand use it as a cleanser by rinsing immediately. The time the shampoo remains in the second hand depends on the speed of hair texture change (2’ – 5′). Rinse with plenty of water.
STEP 2
Pat hair without drying it. Important: Shake the bottle well and pour 15 ml of product and more depending on the amount of hair. Divide hair into 3 sections with a medium comb. Apply the product 2 – 3 cm away from the scalp (the keratin will penetrate the inside of hair and reach the root).
Create large sections and apply the product with a silicone brush or dye brush (as you apply the dye), then comb each strand with the comb to spread the product over the entire length of hair. The moisture in hair will help the QUEEN keratin to pass through easily.
(If necessary you can add moisture during the passage)
STEP 3
Leave product on hair for 10 minutes or longer (depends on how curly hair is). Wrap with cling film.
STEP 4
For this step you will need a hairdryer. It is very important to set the dryer to medium heat or cold.
DO NOT use high heat for this step. Using a plastic air brush, start at the nape of the neck and blow dry the product through hair, working up and to the sides until the entire head is dry.
Never point the blow dryer towards the client’s face to avoid directing any odour or fumes towards the client.
STEP 5
Remove your gloves. You will need a straightening iron that will reach a temperature of 180 – 200°C (important for the process). Pass 2 – 4 repetitions on each section depending on the quality of hair and the desired smoothing effect.
You MUST advise your clients not to wash their hair for up to 72 hours after the treatment. During this time they cannot get their hair wet (this includes sweating during exercise, showering, bathing, etc.).
For the maintenance of hair and for a longer duration, the use of shampoos and sulphate-free care products such as the following products is recommended:
- QUEEN SULPHATE FREE SHAMPOO
- LIFEBOX COLOR PROTECT
- HERBORIA RESTRUCTING MASK
If you want to reduce the duration of the treatment for commercial reasons, before the press step, dry and comb hair with a combing brush as if you were styling.
GENERAL MAINTENANCE RULES
1. After applying keratin for maximum effect, wash after 74 hours with the QUEEN’s line sulfate-free shampoo.
During this time, do not pick up your hair and do not place it behind your ears.
2. Dry your hair in a direction from root to end using a non-metallic brush.
Finish by using HERBORIA serum for extra protection against static electricity that can be caused by the hairdryer.
3. The application of keratin locks the pigments into hair resulting in maximum color and shine.
* Apply the product by insisting on massaging the roots of hair and then proceed to the length of hair.
